Service Item Counter
Service item counters make it easier to track when a service item has reached a specific operating hour counter reading. This information enables proactive maintenance planning, e.g., to avoid unexpected breakdowns and downtime during the harvest season. This chapter is divided into the following sections:

Setting up Default Counter
This section describes how to set up the default counter for service items. To do so, please proceed as follows:
Note
You will be reminded by the system to enter the counter for service items belonging to certain service item categories. In the section Set up Prompt for Counter Readings and Deactivate Counter for specific Service Item Categories is explained how to activate or deactivate the system sided dialogs.
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Management Setup page.
- Navigate to the Defaults FastTab.
- Select the default counter from the dropdown list in the Default Counter field.
Tip
Besides the general setting of the service item counter, it is also possible to setup individual counters for specific service item categories. For more information, go to the section Set up Service Item Counter for Categories.
You have successfully set up the default counter for service items. It will be displayed as a field value in the General FastTab on the service item card.
Setting up a Second Counter
This section describes how to set up a second counter for a service item. This counter will be displayed in the General FastTab of the service item card, similar to the first counter. This allows you to use different counters for different applications on, e.g., a combine harvester, such as one counter for engine operating hours and another for drum hours or the number of cultivated acres. To set up a second counter to a service item, proceed as follows:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Items page.
- Open an existing service item.
- Navigate to the Technical Data FastTab.
- Select the second counter from the dropdown list in the Counter 2 field.
You have successfully set up a second counter. It will be displayed as a field value in the General FastTab on the service item card.
Entering Operating Hours Counter on Service Item Card
This section describes how to enter the operating hours counter for a machine on the service item card. To do so, please proceed as follows:
Note
Before you can record operating hours for a service item, you have to define this value as the Default Counter or Counter 2. For more information, see the sections Setting up Default Counter and Setting up a Second Counter.

Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Items page.

Open the service article for which you want to record the operating hours counter reading.

In the General FastTab, enter the operating hours counter reading in the Operating Hours field.

In the following window, enter the Date and Time of the operating hours counter reading.

Confirm your entries with OK.
Tip
If entering the operating hours counter reading generates an error message, this may be because a higher operating hours counter reading was recorded at an earlier date. The Correcting Operating Hours Counter Reading section describes how to edit the operating hours counter reading history.
You have successfully entered the operating hours counter reading.
Enter Operating Hours Counter Reading in Service Order
This section describes how to enter the operating hours counter reading for a service item in a service order. To do so, please proceed as follows:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Orders page.
- Open the service order that contains a service item for which you want to enter the operating hours counter reading.
- Select the service item in the Lines FastTab for which you want to enter the operating hours counter.
- Click on Line > Worksheet in the menu bar of the Lines FastTab.
- In the worksheet, enter the operating hours counter reading in the Operating Hours field in the General FastTab.
- In the following window, enter the Date and Time of the operating hours counter reading.
- Confirm your entries with OK.
You have successfully entered the operating hours counter reading in a service order.
Correcting Operating Hours Counter Reading
This section describes how to correct an incorrect operating hours counter reading. To do so, please proceed as follows:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Items page.
- Open the service item for which you want to correct the operating hours counter reading.
- In the General FastTab, click on the selection field in the Operating Hours field.
- Select the incorrect operating hours counter reading on the Service Item History page.
- Click on Correct Counter Value in the menu bar.
- In the following window, enter the correct counter value in the Operating Hours field.
- Confirm your entries with OK.
Tip
If you only want to hide a counter reading, click on Remove in the menu bar of the Service Item History. The entry will not be deleted, but simply hidden. By default, a filter is active that hides removed operating hours counter readings. You can reset the filter to display those entries.
You have successfully corrected a operating hours counter reading. For better traceability, all relevant information regarding the counter reading correction is stored in the Service Item History.
Setting up Prompt for Counter Readings
You can set up that a user receives a prompt to enter a counter reading once a document is created. To do so, please proceed as follows:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the User Setup page.
- If you want to activate or deactivate the prompt for a user, select or clear the relevant checkbox in the Counter Reminder column.
You have succesfully activated or deactivated the prompt for entering counter readings for a user. More information on the user setup can be found under User Setup Card.
Setting up Service Item Counters for Categories
This section describes how to set up a service item counter for a service item category. The set up counter will then be used for this service item category by default. Please proceed as follows to set up a service item counter for a cetegory:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Item Categories page.
- Selected the relevant checkbox in the Has Counter column to enable the use of counter readings for the service item category.
- In the Counter 1 Type and Counter 2 Type columns, enter the service item counters that should be used as the default for the service item categories.
You have successfully set up the counter for a service item category. The set counter will automatically be added to the service item card when a service item of this category is created. To disable the counter readings for individual service item categories, clear the checkbox in the Has Counter column for the desired service item category. If a service item of this category is used in a document, no counter reading needs to be entered.
