Service Item Attributes
This chapter contains all important information on service item attributes. You can map attribute values to service items, depending on Manufacturer, Category, and Subcategory. This allows you to map the complete configuration of the service item depending on the number of service item attributes and the corresponding categories and subcategories. This chapter is divided into the following sections:

Create Service Item Attributes
Please proceed as follows to create a service item attribute:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Item Attributes page.
- Click on New in the menu bar.
- A new line will be created in Service Item Attributes table. Fill in the fields of the line according to the following table:
Column | Description |
---|---|
Code | Enter a unique code for the attribute. |
Name | Enter a unique name for the attribute, e.g., drive or chainsaw. |
Data Type | Select the type of data for the attribute. You can select from the following options: Text – Use this data type for attributes for which a text must be entered, e.g., tires. Boolean – Use this data type for attributes for which two states may be possible, e.g., if an all-wheel drive is available or not. Option – Use this data type for attributes for which you can select from multiple options, e.g., the engine type. Integer – Use this data type for attributes for which an integer value must be used, e.g., the amount of gears of a machine. Decimal – Use this data type for attributes for which a decimal value must be used, e.g., the gross vehicle weight of a truck. Date – Use this data type for attributes for which a date must be used. |
Unit Of Measure | If you selected Integer or Decimal as data type, select the relevant unit of measure from the dropdown list. |
Value | For the Option data type, click on the selection field and specify the possible options in the following window, e.g., electric engine, gasoline engine, or diesel engine. For Integer or Decimal data types, this field is filled automatically by the system based on the selected Unit Of Measure. |
Your changes are saved automatically. You have successfully created a service item attribute.
Mapping Service Item Attributes to a Subcategory
This section describes how to map service item attributes to a service item subcategory. Once you have entered the manufacturer, category and subcategory during the creation of a service item, the service item attributes mapped to the subcategory will be inserted automatically. You can then add them to a service item. To map an service item attributes to a service item subcategory, please proceed as follows:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Items page.
- Open an existing service item.
- Navigate to the Attributes FastTab.
- Open the dropdown list of the Subcategory field and click on Select from full list at the bottom of the window
- Click on the selection field in the menu bar, then click on Attributes.
- The Attribute Mapping window, displaying all service item attributes which are mapped to the selected service item subcategory, opens.
- Click on New in the menu bar.
- In the Code column, select the code for the attribute you want to map to the subcategory from the dropdown list. The Name field will be filled automatically.
- Optionally select the Promoted checkbox, if the service item attribute should be highlighted in bold on the service item card.
- Confirm the dialog window, if you want to retrospectively add the attribute for all service items in this subcategory.
You have successfully mapped a service item attribute to a subcategory. It will now be displayed in the Attribute Mapping window.
Adding Service Item Attributes to a Service Item
Specifying service item attributes allows you to store additional information for service items and to filter by them. In order to add attributes to a service item, you must first specify a Category and a Subcategory in the Attributes FastTab on the service item card. You can then add the service item attributes mapped to the subcategory. To do so, please proceed as follows:

If the desired category or subcategory does not exist, it must be created. In this case, please contact our Support.
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Items page.
- Open the service item to which you want to add attributes.
- Navigate to the Attributes FastTab.
- Select a category in the Category field.
- Select a subcategory in the Subcategory field.
- The service item attributes that have been mapped to the subcategory are displayed in the Attribute Values FastTab.
- Complete the attribute data in the Value column of the Attribute Values FastTab according to the following table:
Data Type | Description |
---|---|
Text | For attributes of this data type, click into the field and enter a text. |
Boolean | For attributes of this data type, click on the selection field and select the Yes or No value. |
Option | For attributes of this data type, click on the selection field and select one of the available options. |
Integer | For attributes of this data type, click into the field and enter a number. You cannot use a decimal number. |
Decimal | For attributes of this data type, click into the field and enter a number. You can use a decimal number. |
Date | For attributes of this data type, click into the field and enter a date. |
You have successfully entered the values of the service item attributes.
Filtering Service Items by Attribute
This section describes how to filter the service item list based on attributes. To do so, please proceed as follows:

You can expand this filter by as many attributes as needed and further narrow down the displayed service items. Please proceed as previously described to expand the filter.
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Items page.
- Click Related > Attributes > Apply Filter in the menu bar.
- The window Edit – Filter Service Items by Attribute is viewed.
- In the Attribute Code column, select the attribute by which you want to filter from the dropdown list. The Attribute Name and Data Type fields are filled automatically by the system.
- Select a Value to refine the filtering.
- Click OK to confirm your selection.
You have successfully filtered by service item attributes. The Service Items page will be updated by the system and only display service items that match the filter. If no service items are displayed, this could be because either no attribute value has been specified or no service items with the specified attribute value exist.
Tip
To remove the filter, click on Related > Attributes > Clear Filter in the menu bar. Alternatively, you can also search specifically for service items with certain attribute values using the Machine Finder page. To do this, open the Machine Finder via the quick search (ALT+Q). In the Options FastTab, select the desired filter criteria to narrow down the list of available service items. The corresponding attributes will then be displayed in the Attributes FastTab. Enter the desired values there and click on Find in the menu bar to filter the service items based on the entered attributes.
Creating Service Item Models
Service item models facilitate selecting service item attributes. If you enter the model name of the service item in the Model field, the Manufacturer, Category, and Subcategory fields are automatically filled in by the system and the service item attributes stored for the model are automatically entered in the Attribute Values FastTab. Proceed as follows to set up a service item model in the system:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Item Models page.
- Click on New in the menu bar to create a new machine model.
- Complete the information according to the following table:
Column | Description |

Manufacturer Code | Enter the manufacturer code for the machine in this column. |
Manufacturer Name | This column will be filled in automatically by the system once you select a Manufacturer Code. |
Category Code | Use this field to enter a code for the category that matches the machine. |
Category Name | This field will be filled in automatically by the system once you select a Category Code. |
Subcategory Code | Use this field to enter a code for the subcategory that matches the machine. |
Subcategory Name | This field will be filled in automatically by the system once you select a Subcategory Code. |
Code | Enter the code for the model in this field. |
Name | Enter the model name in this field. |
Rent Class | This field displays the rent class of the service item model, if a rent class has been stored. You can find more information about renting under TRASER Rental 365. |
No. of Calc. Depreciation Months | This field displays the number of calculated deprecation months. |
You have successfully set up a model for a service item. Your changes are saved automatically.
Service Item Categories
The following sections contain all important information regarding service item categories of service items.
Creating Service Item Categories
To create service item categories, please proceed as follows:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Item Categories page.
- Click on New in the menu bar.
- Complete the columns according to the following table:
Column | Description |
---|---|
Code | Enter a code for the service item category. The code can be freely selected. |
Name | Enter a code for the service item category, e.g., Tractor or Crane. |
Counted Rental Income (%) | This field displays the amount of the counted rental income in percent. You can find more information about renting under TRASER Rental 365. |
Rent Class | This field displays the default rent class for the service item category, if a rent class has been stored. You can find more information about renting under TRASER Rental 365. |
Approve Calc. Review Before Sale | Select this checkbox if the user must always approve the calculation review before the service item is posted in a sales document. You can find more information on calculation reviews here. |
Show Calc. Review on Calc. Review List | Select this checkbox if calculation reviews for service items of the selected service item category should be shown in the calculation review list. You can find more information on calculation reviews here. |
Item Template | Select the item template you want to link to the service item category. This allows you to create an item via an item template which is linked with the service item category by using the Add Service Item function in documents. This item template is automatically selected if there is no item in the system which matches the combination of Manufacturer, Category, Subcategory, and Model. |
Has Counter | Select this checkbox if the service item category has a counter. If a service item category has a counter, the user will be reminded in service orders to enter a value. |
Counter 1 Type | Enter the counter type. Service items in this category will have this counter set as the default counter type 1. |
Counter 2 Type | Enter the counter type. Service items in this category will have this counter set as the default counter type 2. |
Serial No. Type 1 | Enter a Serial Number Type. Once added, it will be displayed in the header of the service item card, allowing you to enter a serial number. |
Serial No. Type 2 | Enter another Serial Number Type, if needed. Once added, it will be displayed in the header of the service item card, allowing you to enter a serial number. |
You have successfully created a service item category. The next section explains how to add service item data defined by category as a comment line to sales documents.
Adding Service Item Category Data as Comments
This chapter describes how to define which service item data should be displayed as a comment line on sales and transfer documents based on the service item category. To do so, please proceed as follows:
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Service Item Categories page.
- Select a service item category.
- Click on the selection field in the menu bar, then click on Actions > Service Item Document Data.
- Fill in the table on the Service Item Doc. Data page according to the following information:
Column | Description |

Table Relation Code | You can optionally create a relation between a service item and another table, e.g., the customer or item table. This is helpful if you want to print information as a comment line on sales documents that isn’t available on the service item card, but is found in a related table. Alternatively, you can leave this column blank. |
Table Name | If you have not set up a table relation, this column is automatically filled with the Service Item value. |
Field ID | Select the field that you want to transfer as a comment line to sales documents. |
Field Name | This column is automatically filled with the value of the field ID. |
Sales | Select this checkbox so that the document data is correctly transferred to the sales document as a comment line. |
Transfer | Select this checkbox so that the document data is correctly transferred to the transfer document as a comment line. |
Sequence | Enter a number to define the order in which the lines are added to the document. |
Description | Optional You can enter a description for the comment line. |
- Repeat this process for any information you want to add as a comment line to a sales or transfer document.
Your changes are saved automatically. You have successfully specified which service item category data should be displayed as a comment line in sales or transfer documents. Once you add a service item of the respective service item category to a sales or transfer document, this information is also automatically added.
