Proforma Invoice
Definition
A proforma invoice is a preliminary invoice without a payment obligation. Usually, it contains all the information of a regular invoice – except for an invoice number – and is used to transparently proof the costs of goods or services before the finalization of a contract. For customers, a proforma invoice fulfills a similar function as a cost estimate. In financial accounting, it is also used for accruals or as a replacement for missing original invoices.
Proforma invoices are mainly issued for third country transactions, gifts and samples, spare part deliveries, warranty claims or as proof of donation. In MaschinenParkOnline, a proforma invoice can be created directly or by converting an order confirmation.
