Customizing Shortcut Dimensions
You can assign posting characteristics to data records, e. g. items or customers. These posting characteristics are called Dimensions in TRASER DMS 365. Dimensions allow you to analyze and evaluate certain data sets such as item groups, customer groups or regions.
You will find the Dimensions tab on the following cards:
Master Data | Ledger Entries |
---|---|
Fixed Assets | FA Ledger Entries |
Items | Item Ledger Entries |
Customer | Cust. Ledger Entries |
Vendor | Vendor Ledger Entries |
Resource | Res. Ledger Entries |
G/L Account | G/L Entries |
Contact | Value Entries |
Service Items |
There are two different types of dimensions in TRASER DMS 365.
- Global Dimensions
- Shortcut Dimensions
Global dimensions (1) must always be allocated to a set data record, for example, an item. There are always two global dimensions per data record.
Shortcut dimensions (2) can be allocated when carrying out postings. There can be up to six shortcut dimensions per data record.
Accessing the function:
- Open the General Ledger Setup page.
- Click on Actions > Functions > **Change Global Dimensions...**in the menu bar. If the menu item is not displayed, click on More Options on the menu bar.
- A new page opens.
Change Shortcut Dimensions
CAUTION!
Customizing dimensions can take several hours, depending on how many records are affected by the change.
Requirement:
Please make sure to open the page in edit mode. To edit the page, tap the pencil icon in the menu bar.
- Set the required dimension value to the shortcut dimension by clicking the arrow.
- A dimension value can only be placed in one field at a time.
- If you enter a dimension value in two different fields, the dimension value disappears from the previous field.
- In the column on the right, dimension values will be shown in yellow if they have been changed, deleted or moved. This is useful to restore old settings if needed.
Using the option Sequential to save modifications
Or don’t be able to edit the customer card while changes are being processed.
- To save your modifications, click on Sequential > Start in the menu bar.
Warning
The field Parallel Processing must not be activated.
- The changes are saved.
- Click on the arrow icon to return to the page General Ledger Setup.
Using the option Parallel to save modifications
- Enable the field Parallel Processing.
- To save your modifications, click on Parallel > Prepare in the menu bar.
- The Log Entries tab shows all tables that are affected by the change of dimension values.
