Definition

An item, within the Microsoft Dynamics Business Central context, is an accessory or attachment part that has no standalone function and always requires further items or service items to be usable. They enable other items to provide services.

Items comprise small parts like bolts or filters, attachment parts like blades or valves, or special tools etc.

It is not possible to post labor or working times on items.

Items are subordinated to service items.
